Bungie teases its plans for Destiny 2 starting in 2025 with Codename Frontiers, the next phase of this live-service game, including two expansions, four free content updates, and plenty more. Following the well received Final Shape expansion, which put an end to the decade-long Light and Darkness storyline, things have not gone according to plan for Destiny 2. Bungie suffered through another major layoff, the game has been largely bleeding players, and there has been a general sense of worry regarding the game's future.

Rumors indicated Bungie would be putting out smaller experiences, which would be focused more on activities that were highly replayable, instead of going for major expansions like The Final Shape. Even as fans wondered where the game was going beyond the current episodic content, Bungie began teasing Destiny 2 players with an upcoming announcement regarding the future of the series. At the time, no date was given, however, Bungie has finally pulled the curtain back on Codename Frontiers, giving fans a glimpse into the future of Destiny 2 starting in the Summer of 2025.
