Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege will no longer support Vulkan once its latest major update, Operation Twin Shells, goes live. The popular graphics API (application programming interface) known for its efficient resource utilization was added to Rainbow Six Siege in January 2020, providing many players, especially those on less capable hardware, with significant performance boosts.
Operation Twin Shells, or the Y9S3 update, is set to deliver plenty of fresh content to Ubisoft's acclaimed tactical FPS when it drops on September 10. One notable addition will be Skopos, a new defending operator in Rainbow Six Siege who has access to powerful remote-controlled robots. The update also promises to make changes to the game's graphics settings, among other things.

According to the official patch notes for Operation Twin Shells, Vulkan will no longer be available in Rainbow Six Siege. However, official support for DirectX 12 has been announced and players were assured that they would still be able to run the shooter using the older DX11 API.
