Amazon Games has revealed the details about the open beta for New World: Aeternum, the console revision of the original, which broke records when it launched in 2021. Being dubbed a spiritual successor of that game, New World: Aeternum will feature the same content, including 2023’s Rise of the Angry Earth expansion. But to prepare it for launch on consoles, the developer has overhauled the whole experience, enhanced performance, and introduced a multitude of new content, gameplay mechanics, storylines, and native controller support.
Aeternum, which launches on October 15, will also be available to PC players. Those who own the original base game will get a free upgrade, though they will still need to purchase the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion separately if they don't already have it. One of the more exciting features arriving with New World: Aeternum is cross-platform support, which will allow gamers on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC to enjoy the experience together.
Although New World enjoyed a successful launch, various bugs and issues have caused the game's playerbase to shrink dramatically within months.
