In it, he notes that there are numerous games out there that advertise long stories and need to invest dozens, if not hundreds, of hours into completing it. Except, that’s not always possible for gamers. They don’t have “all the time in the world” to play a game, and so, developers need to be mindful of that when they create a title.
Sakurai fairly notes that a game’s quality can lead to players not just enjoying things for hours on end, but beating a game repeatedly because they want to enjoy it again. He even apologizes for making Smash Bros so addicting that people play it for “thousands of hours.”
