Frostpunk 2 launched in advanced access last night, so fans have been eagerly digging their teeth into this post-apocalyptic, frozen hellscape. Some have even finished the first scenario already, and true to the first game, they struggled.
"This is twice as hard as Frostpunk on normal settings," one fan said of the sequel. "BUT GODDAMN IT'S GOOD".
The game is way too punishing for the slightest mistake. Even on the easiest difficulty.
"I gotta salvage this garbage and hoh boy this city is fu**ed," another fan wrote of their fledgling campaign.
While many are having a tough time adjusting to the new systems in Frostpunk 2 — which moves from the individual city building into macro management with entire districts and less focus on heat generation — our reviewer, Features Editor Tessa Kaur, says that the default difficulty was actually "pretty easy", and that the sequel is more welcoming to newcomers.
PCGamesN reviewer Reid McCarter had a slightly different experience, however. He described the game as "tougher, harsher, and more detailed than its predecessor", while Quest Daily's Nathanael Peacock said that it was "nail-biting" and left him both "stressed out" and "excited".
Frostpunk 2 is so fu**ing hard and STRESSFUL....
