Rumor: Nintendo Switch Online Could Be Adding an Unexpected Feature

According to backend evidence from a source, the Nintendo Switch Online SNES app may soon support the forgotten SNES Mouse peripheral for a handful of compatible titles. The source also claimed that the September 17 Nintendo Switch Online SNES app update expanded how SNES Mouse support could be utilized.

Originally released in 1992, the SNES Mouse was a two-button mouse bundled with a gray, plastic mouse pad and the artsy game Mario Paint. The SNES Mouse's colors matched the SNES itself, as it was light gray with two purple buttons and a black connecting cable. The SNES Mouse used the first controller slot of the SNES console for most games. Because it used the SNES' proprietary connector, the SNES Mouse was incompatible with PCs. While it was available, the SNES Mouse was also sold separately for under $30. Since then, third-party companies have remade the SNES Mouse under different names, such as Hyperkin's Hyper Click Retro-Style Mouse.

Images of what looks like the next Nintendo console are leaked online, giving gamers a possible glimpse at the upcoming Switch successor.
