Nintendo has confirmed that proper dungeons will return in the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. A new Zelda game is launching on the Nintendo Switch later this week, one that will break from tradition in a big way by having Princess Zelda herself be the main playable character for the first time in the mainline series. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a follow-up of sorts to the 2019 Link’s Awakening remake, which reimagined the 1993 Game Boy classic with a new, toy-like 3D art style.
Echoes of Wisdom looks like it will follow the same blueprint, with Zelda exploring the realm of Hyrule from a top-down perspective on a mission to save Link using the mystical Tri Rod. This magic scepter allows players to summon “echoes” to battle enemies and bind and move objects to solve puzzles in a manner similar to last year’s massively successful Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While Echoes of Wisdom looks to channel elements of the more recent Zelda games, it will also call back to the older titles in the long-running Nintendo series.
