The Death Stranding 2: On The Beach release date has already been decided, but the catch is that it won't be revealed for a while yet. That's according to Hideo Kojima, who recently hinted at some complications leading to the decision to delay the Death Stranding 2 release date announcement.

Kojima Productions' latest game starring Norman Reedus was officially announced in December 2022. 15 months later, the company committed to releasing Death Stranding 2 sometime in 2025.

On September 29, PlayStation held a 90-minute Death Stranding 2 presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2024. Appearing as one of the event's guests, Kojima revealed that the game's release date was already decided. "Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we cannot announce it today," the famous game designer explained (via VGC), suggesting that the initial plan was to reveal the release date during the TGS presentation. Although he did not elaborate on what prompted this turn of events, Kojima did note that he's currently preparing for the eventual announcement.
