Helldivers 2 dataminers recently uncovered the original game's armour, revamped to fit the sequel's quality and aesthetic. According to those same leakers, it's "expected to release for Liberty Day" later this month.
For the unaware, this holiday takes place every year on October 26, celebrating the anniversary of 'Managed Democracy', the unification of Super Earth following the Great War.
Helldivers 2 dataminers also found the Constitution Rifle from the original game, which was released in 2016 for the first Liberty Day.
Developer Arrowhead celebrated the occasion in the first game from 2016 to 2019 with blog posts, contests, giveaways, cosmetics, and even new guns. Going by the leaked rifle and armour, it certainly looks like Helldivers 2 will keep up the tradition.
What's especially interesting about this leaked armour is its description: "Worn by the heroic Helldivers who battled and forever defeated the Terminids, Cyborgs, and Illuminate in the First Galactic War."
Firstly, it references the Cyborgs and Illuminate, two factions from the original game. The Cyborgs created the Automatons, explaining the many similarities in their designs, but they were imprisoned on Cyberstan after the first war.
