After one Animal Crossing: New Horizons player lost their entire island, the community has offered to help them rebuild. Many players put tens to hundreds of hours into creating and decorating their island, and losing even a little progress can be a huge setback. Losing the entire island is difficult to imagine, but that's exactly what happened to one player.

Reddit user DusyaDu details their ordeal on Reddit after sending their Switch in for repairs. After putting over 1680 hours of work into their island, DusyaDu's Switch experienced the dreaded "orange screen of death," which essentially bricked the console. DusyaDu sent their console to Nintendo to fix it, hoping that the cloud backup would retain the island's data and allow them to get right back into creating once they got their Switch console back.

Unfortunately, the Switch was beyond repair and the Redditor got a new Switch in the mail. What's more, unfortunately, is that the cloud save failed, leading to the complete loss of the entire island, EverGreen.
