Dragon Age: The Veilguard isn't going to be the direct sequel that many fans were hoping for after Dragon Age: Inquisition. Instead, BioWare has explained that very few choices are being carried over (three, to be exact), so that The Veilguard can focus on its own story and characters. However, that doesn't mean that there won't be anything for returning players.
As Trick Weekes, a lead writer on The Veilguard, explains, there will be "things that reward returning players who remember the lore". While that keeps things pretty vague, it does suggest that The Veilguard isn't leaving its old fans behind, even as it tries to be as accessible as possible to newcomers.
"You can come to the game having never played a Dragon Age game before (or engaged with any of the tie-in stuff) and be fine," says Weekes. "There are things that reward returning players who remember the lore, but like [Dragon Age: Inquisition] itself, it's intended to be friendly to new players.
