Leaked Nintendo Hardware Turns Out To Be The Furthest Thing From Switch 2

A recent Nintendo FCC filing once again resurrected hopes for a reveal of the Nintendo Switch's successor, but the hardware has turned out to be something vastly different. Nintendo is often tight-lipped when it comes to upcoming products, so it's not uncommon for concepts to first hit the public when people uncover new patents or similar reports. In this case, a wireless device from the company appeared in a Federal Communications Commission filing, but details like the lack of a battery and the lack of any reference to game consoles indicated that it wasn't what people had been waiting for.

Nintendo has now announced the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, revealed in a trailer on the Nintendo of America YouTube channel, which Tom Warren notes on Twitter as the "mystery Nintendo hardware" from the FCC filing. Alarmo plays music to wake up users, but it diverges from the standard alarm clock by responding to the user's movement with sounds from video games.
