A lot of interesting things have been dug out of the Helldivers 2 files by dataminers, from Illuminate enemies to new weaponry and Automaton tanks. But today, something oddly normal has been discovered.
"I found a frying pan," leaker Digital--Hazard posted, attaching a picture of the model. Some commenters argued that it might actually be the top of a tank, just flipped upside down, but no, the file name is literally "portable_fryingpan_01".
Celebrating the brave Helldivers who "forever defeated" the Terminid, Illuminate, and Cyborgs. Yeah, about that...
It's unclear if you can pick it up, so maybe it's just clutter. But then why would a frying pan be lying out in the open on a barren wasteland of a planet? Some speculate that it might actually be the first melee weapon, a highly-requested feature that fans have been asking about since launch. It wouldn't be unprecedented, after all. Frying pans are a staple of TF2 and PUBG, maybe they can be a staple of Helldivers, too.
The model looks a little funky, with a distorted outline crammed into the middle of the pan, but as many commenters point out, it's probably just the damaged version...
