Musou games are renowned for having vast numbers of enemies on the screen at any given time; it's one of the core features of the genre. However, the upcoming Dynasty Warriors: Origins, set for release in January 2025, is about to take things to the next level.
Speaking in an interview with TheGamer, the series producer/director Tomohiko Sho shared that the team set themselves the goal of having 10,000 soldiers on screen at a given time.
During my chat with Sho-san, I asked the producer whether it was difficult pushing the PlayStation 5 to its limits, to which he jokingly told me, “For me, it was easy, but I’m just the game director." Instead, he said that the challenge fell to those on the programming team, who set themselves a lofty goal.
"I think the programmers were probably the ones who had the challenge. They wanted to show at least 10,000 soldiers on the screen. That was also their ambition. It was probably difficult for them to do that, but they really worked hard, and I think you can see that with how it appears on the screen.”
