NBA 2K25 Is Adding An Arena Shooter Mode, For Some Reason

It can be a little difficult for sports games to try and freshen things up with each game, with titles like EA FC adding additional modes like Rush to try and give players something new to do. They're not always that innovative or successful, but they're usually connected to the sport that the specific game focuses on. NBA 2K25 is taking a bit of a different approach, giving players a full-scale arena shooter to play instead.

Announced by developer 2K earlier today, this arena mode shooter is called Gravity Ball, and will see teams of either three or five players compete against each other to rack up as many points as they can by firing a ball at numbered targets on the opposing team's wall. After four, two minute long quarters, the team with the most points is victorious.

As you can see, there's quite a bit to it, and you'll even be able to grab power ups for special abilities that will give you an edge in the match. It's an absolutely bizarre mode, though the reaction from fans probably isn't the one that 2K was hoping for. For example, in the tweet above that...
