Electronic Gaming Monthly has opened a Kickstarter and it's already destroyed its original goal after being online for just a day. The Kickstarter campaign is running to fund an EGM Compendium that will celebrate the magazine and the games that it wrote about across the years.
Printed gaming magazines are becoming rarer all the time. Game Informer was shut down by its parent company GameStop not too long ago, and Play Magazine shut down after almost 30 years of publication earlier in October. With the prevalence of online media, videos on demand, and live streaming, many gaming publications have either shut their doors or been forced to close by parent companies. However, it's clear that these classics still have a ton of fans.
