Sega has recently filed a brand-new Sonic the Hedgehog trademark, which suggests a new game, Sonic Spin Battle, is possibly in the works. Following a strong 2023, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise also has had an incredible 2024 so far. Between all the cross media ventures like the third cinematic film, the Knuckles TV show, and Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings, new and existing Sonic games have had a lot of support this year. The biggest and most anticipated release from Sega and Sonic Team has to be Sonic X Shadow Generations, an updated re-release of Sonic Generations that also has a side story starring Shadow the Hedgehog.
Recent evidence suggests that Sega has some more things being planned for the future. Sega's trademarks usually point towards a new project in the works, whether it be for video games or other media ventures. Back in 2021, Sega filed a trademark for Sonic Frontiers, which both confirmed its final title and de-confirmed the original prototype name of "Sonic Rangers."
