Raise your hand if you have been personally victimized by the riot shield spam in Call of Duty.
This feature has been at the center of flame wars and is individually responsible for dozens of broken controllers and headsets flung across the room in anger as your character eats yet another 9mm bullet through the skull after emptying a 30-round magazine into a shield enjoyer.
The devs at Treyarch are not faultless. They had this evil device in Black Ops 2 (2012), but now they return to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as saviors of the franchise multiplayer.
As previously covered, the weapons list for Black Ops 6 was recently revealed and contains many iconic guns, but the main thing players noticed is that there is finally no riot shield among the 33 items.
So long to the annoying guy holding down a high-traffic area alone with his evil shield and pistol. In Black Ops 6, you must shoot your primary weapon to win.
Do Shields Have a Place in Shooters?
Riot shields are not inherently bad tools and can create exciting gameplay if implemented correctly.
