The Wolf Among Us 2 Hasn't Been Cancelled Despite Rumours, Says Telltale

You may remember The Wolf Among Us, a beloved 2013 narrative adventure from the original iteration of Telltale Games. It's based on the Fables series of graphic novels by Bill Willingham and features Bigby Wolf (The Big Bad Wolf) as its protagonist. Telltale Games was ultimately forced to close its doors after releasing a plethora of half-baked games based on expensive licenses. The studio's intellectual property was later purchased by investors who created a new studio using the Telltale name.

Since the revival, Telltale has released two games, Batman: Shadows Edition and The Expanse: A Telltale Series. However, there's no doubt what the most anticipated game from the 'new' Telltale is, The Wolf Among Us 2. If you consider both iterations of the sequel to be one cohesive cycle, then Wolf Among Us 2 has been in development since 2017. None of the original work on the title is being used by the new Telltale, which began its own iteration of the game in 2019. A decision was made last year to switch the game from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, further delaying release. The studio then laid off most of the team, which... isn't great.
