In a Developer Update video this week, Jeff Kaplan outlined the plans for their new “Year of the Dog” event for Overwatch. In the video, Kaplan announced that a new Capture-the-Flag focused map in Thailand, changes to that said mode and new skins will all be coming to the event based on the Lunar New Year and mainland eastern Asian mythology. This was followed up with a trailer for the event, which you can watch below.
Recently, it was also reported that Kim “Geguri” Se-Yeon will be the first woman to be signed to a pro-Overwatch League team. Geguri was also previously embroiled in controversy due to her skills within the game being so high, that other players accused her of cheating. This is a huge step for the official Overwatch pro-league as it is evident that it is a male-dominated scene and so having a major female competitor within it is a step in the right direction.
