After more than a year without an update, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is confirmed to still be in development. The upcoming game is meant to be a prequel to the 2003 Beyond Good & Evil and has been in development for many years. Ubisoft has appointed Fawzi Mesmar as the new Creative Director for the game, tasking him with continuing development on the game.
Mesmar shares his new title in a LinkedIn post (as reported by Eurogamer) where he states that he looks forward to "continuing to craft a game that is truly unique for players to enjoy." The move comes after a year-long silence from Ubisoft and the team, causing many to think that the game may be at risk for cancelation. The appointment of a new creative lead indicates that there's still hope for players to see the title.
The future of Beyond Good And Evil 2 was placed in jeopardy when the previous director of the game, Emile Morel, tragically died in 2023. Morel's successor, Mesmar, is a good name to carry on the legacy, as the game designer, creative director, and author has many years of experience under his belt.
