In somewhat of a continuation of a news story from yesterday regarding the dispersing of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown development team, comes reports that some of those team members have shifted over to working on other Ubisoft games which include the next Ghost Recon title, the long in-development Beyond Good & Evil 2, and also a Rayman game, which would be the first mainline addition to the franchise since 2013’s well received Rayman Legends.
This is according to Kotaku which received confirmation from a Ubisoft spokesperson that the game is in early stage development at the company.
The quote also confirms an initial report by Insider-Gamimg stating the team is working on a Rayman remake and goes by the internal name “Project Steambot.” In perhaps more controversial circumstances, original Rayman creator, Michel Ancel, is consulting on the project.
Ancel left the company in 2020 amid allegations of employee bullying while working on Beyond Good & Evil 2. Although the spokesperson confirmed to Kotaku in the same article that his consultation is only to maintain consistency with past games.
