Microsoft has released a new Xbox update for Alpha testers that enhances customization options for players’ gamerpics and background pictures. Going forward, players will have even more control over how they represent themselves on Xbox consoles.

Xbox backgrounds and gamerpics have long been a staple of the console’s profile features, allowing players to select pictures to show next to their Gamertag. Players can either select a custom image, take a picture of their Xbox avatar, or choose from pre-made options to represent themselves online across the Xbox network. This feature is crucial to customizing one’s profile, and Microsoft has periodically updated the backgrounds and gamerpics features with better resolution and more customization tools, even remaking some old-school Xbox 360 gamerpics for newer consoles.
