Almost a decade after its original release on the Wii U, Xenoblade Chronicles X is receiving an enhanced re-release on the Nintendo Switch in 2025. Released in 2015, Xenoblade Chronicles X was the second game to be released in the Xenoblade Chronicles series - however, despite being one of the series' earliest entries, XCX bears no direct connection to any of the other games, with its futuristic setting and open-world structure marking it as something more like a spinoff or side-game when compared to the three "main" entries.
As announced by Nintendo on X, the game will be receiving an enhanced port to the Nintendo Switch, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, which is set to release on March 20, 2025. Notably, this marks XCX as the last Xenoblade Chronicles game to make its way to the Switch, meaning that, after its release, the entire series will be playable on the console. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will also include a few new features, similar to the Definitive Edition of the original Xenoblade Chronicles.
