Pokémon GO players are still coming to terms with the recent Gigantamax Battles but Niantic wants everyone to know that it's looking into the difficulty. The reception of Dynamax Pokémon has been mixed since the Pokémon GO community wanted a system that was mechanically distinct from standard Raids. Players were hoping that the release of Gigantamax Pokémon would be the change they were initially hoping for and while they are more interesting, defeating them is a punishing and time-consuming affair.

Per Eurogamer, Niantic responded to complaints that the Gigantamax Pokémon Battles are too difficult, confirming that it's looking into nerfing the upcoming Gigantamax Gengar Raid that's slated to arrive this weekend. The developer confirmed that Gengar will be "slightly" easier to defeat in comparison to the other Gigantamax Pokémon, noting that players will still need to coordinate and strategize if they want to topple the towering Ghost-type. Niantic goes on to say that it wants Gigantamax Gengar to be a meaningful challenge while ensuring that Trainers still stand a chance.
