Nintendo Celebrates Halloween By Adding Two Spooky N64 Games To NSO

Nintendo Switch Online may not be the first service one thinks of when Halloween rolls around but the platform is doing its best to get into the spirit by offering subscribers some of the N64's creepiest games. Nintendo has usually championed itself as a family-friendly company with a catalog of titles that appeal to both adults and children. The N64 was an odd time for Nintendo as it attempted to retain its established reputation while slowly bringing in darker titles to compete with the PlayStation One.

Announced on X (formerly Twitter), Nintendo revealed that Shadow Man and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil are now available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion subscribers.

The latest additions have been widely praised by users as both have a cult status thanks to their emphasis on horror and mature themes. Neither game has the scares of modern experiences but for older players looking for the nostalgia hit, both Turok 2 and Shadow Man harken back to an age when the industry was still learning how to make horror mainstream.
