Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War controversially swapped out the handcrafted Zombies crews for Operators. Instead of being randomly assigned characters like Richtofen or Misty at the start of each match, you would fight back hordes of the undead with more generic multiplayer and Warzone characters. Unfortunately, this meant less dynamic dialogue, and less interactivity with the story.
Black Ops 6 mixes the two approaches. You can still play as Operators from other modes, but there's a designated crew made up of Weaver, Elizabeth, Carver, and Maya, who have more banter and involvement in the Easter Eggs. But according to Insider Gaming, it won't end with those four — the OG crew might even return.
Allegedly, Dempsey, Takeo, and Nikolai featured in the 2025 playtests, and are set to be involved directly in the still-unravelling story.
