A new SpongeBob SquarePants game is coming in 2025, though what form it will take remains a mystery. The new game starring SpongeBob SquarePants has been teased at the end of a trailer released for Halloween 2024, celebrating the famous aquatic character's spookiest in-game adventures and suggesting that more fun is on the way.
SpongeBob has become an iconic cartoon character since his debut on his self-titled Nickelodeon animated show in May 1999. The character made his first solo jump into gaming in March 2001 with adventure game Legend of the Lost Spatula on Game Boy Color, which sent him on a quest to find the titular spatula and become the greatest fry cook in the world. Since then, nearly 30 more official SpongeBob games have followed for consoles, handhelds, and PCs, and the character has appeared in dozens of other games ranging from Minecraft to PowerWash Simulator.
