Ahead of Stadia's release next month, Google has announced its first game studio, Stadia Games and Entertainment in Montreal. In a blog post by the Head of Stadia Games and Entertainment, Jade Raymond, she states the studio is committed to creating new and unique gaming experiences.
Being new and innovative seems to be at the core of what Raymond wants to do with Stadia Games and Entertainment:
At Stadia, we don’t believe in being “good enough.” We believe in being more: More ambitious. More inclusive. More accessible. More immersive. More engaging. We’re bringing that mentality to Stadia Games and Entertainment, and now with our first studio, we’re looking for the best developers on the planet to join us.
The one surefire way to get people to join a gaming platform is to have some awesome exclusives. As a first party studio for Stadia, that's obviously going to be the primary goal. We'll have to wait and see whether the innovations work out, but the ambition and commitment to innovate and create something new is definitely worth keeping an eye on. Jade Raymond also has quite the resume as well.
Whether or not Stadia will even work for most people is obviously the biggest argument people keep having. However, just behind that is the argument that some people aren't interested in the service due to the lack of an attractive exclusives library. If the service doesn't work, of course the argument about the library is moot at that point, but assuming Google knows what they're doing, Stadia Games and Entertainment is going to play a big role in bringing people to the platform.
There's no word yet on any titles that studio may be working on, but we can expect to hear more soon. If you're interested in being a part of Stadia Games and Entertainment, check out their job listings here.
