The first major patch cycle is finally coming to the divisive release of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail and it already looks to be something to remember. Released starting November 12, this update looks to bring new content, such as the Chaotic Alliance Raid, and a throwback to the classic predecessor, Final Fantasy XI.

They have also announced the release dates for each of its updates, with 7.11 coming November 26 with the main attraction being Futures Rewritten (Ultimate), 7.15 hitting December 17, the Chaotic Alliance Raid coming a week after this (a new Christmas present) and January 21 bringing 7.16 for additional role quests.

The Cloud of Darkness Returns

The big new piece of content released in the 7.1 patch cycle, specifically one week after 7.15, will be the Chaotic Alliance Raid. This is a raid that can be completed with upwards of 24 players, and as low as 12. Depending on how many players there are in an instance, the raid’s difficulty will scale. Additionally, the reward structure looks much better than the Criterion dungeons from the previous expansion.

The rewards will unlock new item level 730 gear, which could very well adjust the current BiS of certain classes....
