The first big chunk of new content to Borderlands 3 came earlier this month with the Bloody Harvest Halloween event. While that's a temporary seasonal event, Takedowns are a permanent addition to Borderlands 3 that will forever be part of the game. The first is Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite, which sees you attack one of the gun manufacturer's most guarded facilities.

The only thing you need to do to unlock Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite is complete the main story of Borderlands 3. However, gearbox says that while that may be the only prerequisite to do the Takedown, Maliwan's Blacksite has been designed to be challenging for the most geared of Vault Hunters. In their blog post discussing the Takedown, they say you'll want to be level 50 and have plenty of Legendary gear before you try to tackle the challenge.

Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite is designed and tuned as a four player co-op mission for level 50 characters. Gearbox says you can give it a shot playing solo, but you probably won't make it far. If you can't muster up three friends to try the Takedown with you, there will be a public matchmaking option available.

Three new bosses await you in Maliwan's Blacksite to test your skill, but the challenge doesn't end there. The fodder of enemies between the boss fights will have unique abilities to deal with as well.

Expect to spend about 30-45 minutes in Maliwan's Blacksite as you fight your way to your rewards. Those rewards include some of the best shields in the game for you to collect, and there will of course be cosmetics as well.

Gearbox says there is still more information to be released on Maliwan's Blacksite, which should be coming soon. Maliwan's Blacksite is set to launch on Borderlands 3, for free, November 21st. So, you have some time to get the gear you need to tackle the challenge and fine tune your Vault Hunter to play the way you want.
