While it didn't star the titular franchise protagonist, the first full-fledged AAA game based on the Harry Potter franchise in over a decade, Hogwarts Legacy, was critically praised. More importantly for Warner Bros., it sold millions of copies across all platforms.

Just last month, Warner Bros. CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels mentioned how a sequel was "one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road," though he didn't confirm whether it was already in development. That changed today, as president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's David Haddad confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in development.

Hogwarts Legacy Still Raking In Galleons For Warner Bros.

According to a piece by entertainment rag Variety on "Harry Potter 2.0", Hogwarts Legacy has now crossed the 30-million units sold mark last month. This is after the game's sizzling retail triumph in 2023, where it skyrocketed to the top of the charts after its release on February 10, 2023, and didn't let go, as it managed to trump even Call of Duty to finish as last year's best-selling video game.
