In a surprising move, Dead by Daylight developer BHVR has announced recently that the popular 2v8 game mode would return. This is surprising because for whatever reason, game companies have a habit of never bringing back popular game modes. But why is that?
League of Legends developer Riot Games has stated in the past that the incredibly popular Ultra Rapid Fire game mode caused a decline in players every time it cycles out of the rotation, so perhaps companies are hesitant to take similar risks — and perhaps the other option, of introducing it permanently, would split the playerbase and affect matchmaking.
In any case, today we got more details on the changes being planned for the mode’s return, including new Killers and maps and a new Class system that uncouples Killer Classes from specific Killers. The Classes themselves have also seen significant changes. For those who missed the initial announcement, the 2v8 mode will be available from November 12th to November 26th.
