Valve has revealed a new limited edition white variant of the Steam Deck OLED. The handheld console will cost $679, which is $30 more than the standard model and has all the same specifications. It will be available on November 18, 3PM PST, in all regions that the Steam Deck is currently available, but will have only a limited number.
Valve is all about quality. Except for aligning the Steam Deck with my pain points.
So, if you want a Stem Deck that's a different colour from everyone else's, you better stay ready at the storefront. In a news post, Valve noted that it will not be refreshing the stock of this white edition, and that "Once we are sold out, we will be sold out." So, if white is your aesthetic, you better make sure you're at the ready on launch day.
"Last year, we released a smoky translucent limited edition Steam Deck OLED as an experiment to find out if there was interest in alternative colourways (there was!). This is our second experiment along those lines," Valve explained (thanks, Eurogamer).
