2024 Video Games Soundtrack Grammy Nominations Announced

Officially debuting at the 2023 ceremony, this is now the third year the recording academy will be giving out the video games soundtrack Grammy, officially called the Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media award. Although this is the first year that doesn’t feature Call of Duty, it does continue the trend of licensed video games getting the majority of the nominations.

The five nominees for the video games soundtrack Grammy are as follows…

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla (DLC)
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Star Wars Outlaws
Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord

Three out of the five games are titles based on major entertainment franchises, making this the second time either a Star Wars or Marvel game has appeared among the nominees. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was nominated among the 2022 list, while Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was a nominee last year. Ubisoft has now featured twice as well. Winning the 2023 ceremony with Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla: Dawn of the Ragnarok‘s (DLC) original score.

However, there’s only one composer who’s been on the list all three years, Bear McCreary. Nominated two years in a row now for God of War:...
