Capcom Wants to Revive More of Its Classic IPs

Following Capcom's announcements of new Okami and Onimusha titles at The Game Awards 2024, the publisher has stated it also wants to bring back some of its other legacy and dormant properties. In recent years, Capcom has been pushing for a lot of fan interest and engagement about what new titles from its storied legacy the company should bring back. These usually come in the form of surveys that fans can fill out, many of them asking about what new games or sequels they'd like to push for. Considering Capcom has a library of so many games that have yet to see new installments, it's no surprise demand is high in that area.

Capcom recently announced the revivals of two dormant IPs at The Game Awards 2024 earlier this month. One of these was a new trailer for Onimusha Way of the Sword, a brand-new title in Capcom's classic Onimusha series, a dark fantasy game that takes place in the Kyoto period, which is set to release in 2026. The other game is an Okami sequel, with Hideki Kamiya once again at the helm, though a release date hasn't been set yet for it.
