Following the success of 2022's Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, a spin-off of the Borderlands franchise, many expected a sequel to be in the works.
Those expectations became smoke when a LinkedIn profile mentioned a contractor working on an "Unannounced Sequel." The smoke turned into fire when Kotaku reported that development on a sequel to Tiny Tina's Wonderlands had undergone a soft reboot.
Today, a report from MP1st.com says that development on the sequel has been canceled in the past few months. Given the news that Lost Boys Interactive, the studio that helped Gearbox with development on the spin-off, had undergone layoffs and cuts multiple times this past year.
Additionally, a LinkedIn profile for a former Lost Boys developer mentions an unannounced canceled project on their resume. Presumably, this canceled project is the Tiny Tina's sequel.
Following the release of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford expressed his desire to make the spin-off a new franchise for the studio. Pitchford said, "Future experiences are already under development at Gearbox," and he was pleased with the game's critical success.
