LT3's Reviews
There’s something charming about to a T. Teen is a strong main character. Their joy at life, and the struggles they deal with on display. Showcasing a message about being true to oneself. Embracing what makes us, us, and just enjoying every moment with your friends. It’s refreshingly soft and colourful, even if camera frustrations and tedious routines try to raise friction during that experience.
The largest problem with Monster Train 2 is the initial experience. It’s not as streamlined or smooth as the first, and there are bumps along that track. If you persist though, there’s more of what makes Monster Train great, along with a fleshed out story for you to learn more about the clans, the characters and the locations you were choo choo’ing your way through the previous go round.
Bringing new ideas to an old concept Doom: The Dark Ages replaces the verticality and speed of Eternal with old school projectile dodging and a more grounded methodical approach making you feel like an unstoppable juggernaut. The shield is a welcome addition to the franchise, sadly the same can’t be said for the Atlan or the Mecha-Dragon.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is at times emotionally devastating, at others defiantly heartwarming, and most importantly throughout, very willing to remind you of just how damn creepy Mimes are.
An exceptional puzzle game opening its doors and welcoming you inside.
I wasn’t expecting the story to be as grounded as it was in places, dealing with family betrayals, history, promises, honour and everything else you could easily find in another Yakuza style game, just here it’s accompanied by absurdity in the form of… Whatever this nightmare fuel is.
That’s the message at the core here. It’s hard to slow down, you can feel like something is wrong with you or that you’re broken. But it’s ok. You’re allowed to take a breath, you’re not broken… You’re tired. It would be easy to just take this on the surface as another cozy game, but the message shouldn’t be overlooked, even if you’re not as big a fan of the cozy.
Monster Hunter Wilds gives you Ultimate Freedom to hunt as you want. An open world filled with Nostalgia and New Faces. It lays solid groundwork for the unstoppable updates to come.
Avowed captures the mystery of a fantasy land. Fills it with friends and foes alike, and asks you to decide their fate. A refreshingly enjoyable RPG that shows the strength of the genre and reminds us that sometimes restraint is a good thing. Avowed showcases Obsidians strengths while spinning another story in the Pillars of Eternity universe. That wheel just keeps on turning
Eternal Strands is one of those games where you get out what you put in. You could breeze through the story in about half the time we took but you’d be missing out on a lot of the sauce that makes it a fun sandbox. The magic system of Eternal Strands feels designed with fun at its heart. Truly a deviant’s playground where the only thing holding you back is your imagination… And your conscience.
