Splatoon 3 isn't the most exciting release on the calendar, but it is the best the game has been. As a standalone game it's a rip-roaring success, and perhaps the game that fans wanted all along.
Way of the Hunter sacrifices fun for realism, and coupled with some other aggravating elements is a game I cannot recommend
Circus Electrique combines tricky turn-based combat and circus management to create a wonderful game for those willing to learn all the mechanics.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is brimming with Disney magic, but it's also a well-constructed game with plenty to keep you playing.
Ooblets is a delightful and silly farming game with plenty to keep you busy, but the Switch performance might some off
Gerda: A Flame in Winter tells an intimate tale of love and sacrifice, and forces you to make difficult decisions you often struggle to make.
Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation - The Endless Seven Day Journey might not be action packed, but it's incredibly endearing.
Scathe is a serviceable shooter with a few nice touches, but there's little to set it apart from other Doom-likes.
The Last of Us Part I is a technological marvel, making Naughty Dog's classic story of survival better than it has ever been before. The visuals are sublime as is the audio, and all of the other changes make this well worth playing all over again.
The Dragoness: Command of the Flame is an enjoyable adventure, but it does feel a little underwhelming compared to other turn-based strategy titles.
Immortality is a phenomenal piece of work, filled with great acting and direction, centred around the story of one woman's life in front of the lens in all its fragile yet powerful glory.
There is much to see and do with The Cowabunga Collection, and whilst the games are arguably all eclipsed by the recent Dotemu reboot, there are still some blinding retro classics and so many extras to enjoy that this collection is a great value trip through your childhood console and arcade memories.
Madden NFL 23 has refined the matchday experience and improved much of the gameplay to make this year a strong foundation for the future.
Destroy All Humans 2! - Reprobed is a chaos-induced joyride through various cities on Earth, using plenty of weapons to get the job done. Some of the humour feels outdated, but there's no denying the fun to be had causing tons of destruction.
Should Nintendo support Kirby's Dream Buffet it with updates, new courses, then it's only going to get better. It's a lot of fun, but it's the kind of fun you can't quite see yourself returning to over and over again.
Pac-Man World Re-Pac is good 3D platformer, but struggles to stand out against other modern offerings in the genre.
Islets is a gorgeous little indie that's definitely worth checking out if you're a Metroidvania aficionado.
Dusk Diver 2 is a perfectly adequate action RPG, but the tedious side quests and numerous issues with the Switch port make it hard to recommend.
You could consider Saints Row a love letter to a time when games worried less over quality and more about fun, but that doesn't excuse its faults.
Tinykin is a joyous and unthreatening exploration based 3D platformer, with a ridiculous amount of charm.
