At the end of the day anybody who holds the original Abe's Oddysee in high regard will appreciate this remake immensely, but newcomers to the series should be wary of it's problems.
If there's ever been a time to throw out the words "Indie" or "Developed on a budget" then now is the time. As it proves that time, effort, fan feedback, and passion, are more important than high budgets, annual recycling, scripted Hollywood aesthetics, and glorified tech demos.
Shovel Knight is a game that you should buy, plain and simple. It takes what could have been a simple nostalgia trip to a new level and shows that shovelry is alive and well.
A refreshing slant at the handling of a tough subject, Valiant hearts is touching and poignant WWI game.
Final Fantasy 3 is not the ultimate fantasy by any means. There are far better entry points to the series and far more mechanically enjoyable titles for series faithful to return to.
It's a great product, mind, and it's certainly better than the original one. And if you were ever a fan of Nintendo, and their 8-bit glories, then it is definitely recommended as a must buy. But if you weren't on board the Nintendo train back then (or simply not born yet), you might not fully appreciate what NES Remix 2 has to offer.
A WWII shooter with a difference… stealth and slow-mo kills… in Africa
EA Sports UFC will undoubtedly appeal to fans of MMA, but a convoluted control scheme, poor tutorials, few modes of play, bad acting, and an offensive use of DLC make this a game for hardcore fans only.
WildStar may look cute and colourful...and it is. But it's also an enriching experience that's chock-full of content and character. If you can splurge on the subscription, then Nexus is well worth the trip.
While there's a few bad points here and there, none of these are game-breaking and could easily be addressed with a patch. The excellent gameplay speaks for itself and it's refreshing to see something different amongst the incredible number of car games out there that fail to remain distinct against their own competition.
Murdered: Soul Suspect has an interesting plot, an intriguing game world, and a lot of cool game ideas, but a host of little problems drag the experience down. Still, fans of a good detective story might want to check it out, provided they can deal with the game's inconsistencies.
The Worms are back. And they're armed and dangerous… with moustaches and hats!
Mario Kart 8 represents the best game currently available on the three next gen consoles, and is the best reason to get a Wii U if there ever was one.
While there's enough content to keep players satisfied, the indistinguishability residing within it's control scheme and gameplay mechanics, make the experience feel all too similar to other games within the same genre.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is a great shooter that balances old school design sensibilities with modern storytelling and excellent production values to produce a Nazi blastin' good time.
Watch_Dogs delivers on all fronts providing the player with intense gameplay mechanics and an intriguing mission structure.
Transistor is a fantastic follow-up to Bastion that features incredible art design, wonderful music, deep, customizable, strong storytelling and one of the best plots in recent memory. It's a thoughtful, beautiful, and well-designed game that should be played by everyone with a passing interest in RPGs. Go buy it. Now.
Tropico 5 will inevitably keep you going and the dynamic nature of it's gameplay will keep you on your toes. Along with gorgeous graphics and a quirky charm Tropico 5 is a must have for RTS fans.
Mario Golf: World Tour isn't set up as well as it could be, and fails to live up to the rest of the series. It is still very well executed where in matters, and it's consistently fun to hit the links of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Bound by Flame is a game that many will undoubtedly gain a huge amount of enjoyment from. Shortcomings of bad character interactions and weak contributions from NPCs are something that's easy to look past on.
