9 / 10.0 - Inversus
Aug 17, 2016

Inversus is absolutely for you if you love score chasing, addicting games or if you have local friends to play with. I’m glad it has online multiplayer even though it may be hard to find players on it. I wish the single player mode was a bit longer but other than that the game is great. For such a simple looking game it really surprised me with how fun it turned out to be.

9 / 10.0 - Brut@l
Aug 6, 2016

Brut@l is one of my favorite dungeon crawling games that I’ve played in a very long time. The visual style of the game is striking and beautiful, the combat is smooth and fluid, and the game has tons of replay value both with it’s level editor and the randomly generated dungeons. If you like trophies the game has a full set including a Platinum to go after as well. The altars in the game feel a little unfair and I wish you could have more than one level created and shared at a time but those are minor nitpicks in this great game. Brut@l is for you if you’re seeking a unique challenging new dungeon crawler.

Overall, Telltale’s Batman Episode 1 is one of the best and most complete experiences to be found in one episode of a Telltale game. The episode is directed expertly and pacing is very well executed; you’ll have time to experience all of the multi-faceted lives of Bruce Wayne but you’re also introduced to a wide array of classic characters without feeling overwhelmed. You get the eery sense that something is brewing in Gotham City and I can’t wait to find out what it is in the episodes to come.

7.5 / 10.0 - Lifeless Planet
Aug 1, 2016

If you're looking for a enjoyable exploration game on a distant planet then you may want to check this one out. The story is very interesting and the planet is fun to explore even if the controls don't always do what you want them to. However the price tag is kind of high for something you can finish in a few hours and if you want something with more action than you better avoid this as action is not what Lifeless Planet: Premier Edition is about. If none of that bothers you than by all means come explore this Lifeless Planet.

I really enjoyed my time with Dex for the most part as it scratched that cyberpunk itch that we just don’t see enough of in games. The game is meaty and is not short on content by any means. The quests in particular the side quests were very interesting unlike a lot of other games. I wish the voice acting of pretty much everyone in the game outside of Dex was better and that the combat was a little more fun. If you’re looking for an interesting cyberpunk world to explore and a game that will last you awhile give Dex a look.

Riptide GP: Renegade is a major improvement from Vector Units last game and shows the developer is learning and trying to build a better game. The game has plenty of content with a good length career mode, local multiplayer, online multiplayer, and lots of things to unlock. If they can improve some of the things like animations and get rid of the annoying things from the career mode they could have something truly special. If you’ve been wanting a fun new wave racing game you need to check out Riptide GP: Renegade.

Overall if you are looking for something original and funny I can’t recommend The Magic Circle: Gold Edition enough. Getting to play through a story about a game in development hell is unique and unlike anything else out there right now. The voice acting is done well and being able to change the properties of the creatures and things in the game is pretty fun too. It has some issues but if you can look past those minor flaws you’ll find a great experience here.

Super Mutant Alien Assault is fun and challenging so if you’re in the mood to blast aliens with lots of different weapons and abilities check this one out. The game is rather inexpensive and it can be fun with a friend. I recommend it.

Overall, Carmageddon Max Damage definitely has unique appeal. I can’t say I’ve ever really played another game like it. It’s mercilessly violent but not for any malicious reasons; this is crude humour at its height in the video game space. The physics provide for some truly fun moments and you’ll find yourself reaching for that “record clip” button more than once. The game isn’t anything special in terms of graphical fidelity but the clean presentation is more than welcome. The game’s formula feels a bit dated but can still be great fun when played in short playtimes

Ultimately, the Blood & Wine expansion rivals and bests some full AAA games I’ve played in recent memory.

7 / 10.0 - The Technomancer
Jun 29, 2016

Overall, The Technomancer is a pleasant experience thanks to the great looking and intense combat. This could be the perfect game to add to your collection after a slight price drop.

I won't be going into spoiler territory but it's clear that the best thing Mirror's Edge Catalyst has going for it is the core gameplay mechanics. When they work (which in all fairness is the majority of the time) then the parkour style of movement is a ton of fun and makes you feel like a badass.

Overall, if you don’t ever use the workshop mode and don’t care about achievements then don’t buy Contraptions. If you want some extra time to kill in Fallout 4 and/or you enjoy building in the workshop mode then Contraptions is way worth the mere five dollars it’s priced at. If you managed to get this through the season pass when it was only $30 or even the new $50 price it’s definitely worth trying this new piece of DLC. Contraptions is a step up from the disappointing Wasteland Workshop DLC and is enjoyable for the first hour or two playing with it but it still doesn’t blow anyone away.

5.5 / 10.0 - R.B.I. Baseball 16
Jun 10, 2016

It’s hard to recommend R.B.I. Baseball 16 to anyone but the hardest of the hardcore MLB fan. If you only own an Xbox One and you need a baseball game, I think you will find some enjoyment here. I would suggest those people to check out Super Mega Baseball, which released late last year, for a true arcade baseball experience.

9 / 10.0 - Overwatch
May 24, 2016

Overwatch is unlike anything else on the Xbox One and PS4. Yes, Battleborn exists and I've enjoyed that game for what it is and even reviewed it positively (you can read that here) But it'd be incredulous to not admit that Overwatch just brings something 'special' to the genre that makes it stand out from other shooters of a similar nature. Personally, I'd even go as far as calling it the most enjoyable multiplayer shooter on console to date. That's not to say that other multiplayer shooters have been bad; they certainly haven't but the Pixar-grade visuals mixed with everything else that makes Overwatch so great just puts it above the fray compared to other shooters. If you're looking to get some genuine fun out of a multiplayer game then you can't go wrong with Overwatch.

Overall, the general story can sometime be a hit or a miss, with some scenes really drawing me further into the world while others completely disengaged me. The characters are fine and some even have unique personalities but their development is never taken very far. The protagonist (Ethan) never speaks in the game, which is something that I'm generally not much of a fan of since it disengages me from the story in my personal experiences. There are often moments that  seem very much like 1984's Red Dawn or 2012's film of the same name, both of which I'm a fan of and I feel that there was a lot of potential that wasn't fully realized in the finished game.

8 / 10.0 - Doom
May 17, 2016

Doom is a game that focuses on having a kickass campaign and tries to have a fun multiplayer but doesn't. The game also gives us a nice feature known as SnapMap that I didn't expect to be so good. Doom isn't perfect but it surely isn't a bad game. If you are looking for a different type of shooter or just a new game to add to the shelf, then Doom is an excellent choice. If you are looking for a multiplayer experience that will blow you away, then Doom probably isn't a good choice.

7.5 / 10.0 - Battleborn
May 12, 2016

When considering Battleborn as a full package, there's a lot there to sink your teeth into. It's unique blend of various game modes and various ways to play means you'll have a lot of fun experimenting in Battleborn, especially when it comes to the game's charming and humours characters. Battleborn will provide you with entertainment and a level of uniqueness that has become a rarity in AAA games. Unfortunately, it can't help but be felt that Battleborn falls just short of its potential and is held back by frustrating mission design, overly harsh difficulty and lack of multiplayer content.
