7 / 10.0 - The Technomancer
Jun 29, 2016

Overall, The Technomancer is a pleasant experience thanks to the great looking and intense combat. This could be the perfect game to add to your collection after a slight price drop.

I won't be going into spoiler territory but it's clear that the best thing Mirror's Edge Catalyst has going for it is the core gameplay mechanics. When they work (which in all fairness is the majority of the time) then the parkour style of movement is a ton of fun and makes you feel like a badass.

Overall, if you don’t ever use the workshop mode and don’t care about achievements then don’t buy Contraptions. If you want some extra time to kill in Fallout 4 and/or you enjoy building in the workshop mode then Contraptions is way worth the mere five dollars it’s priced at. If you managed to get this through the season pass when it was only $30 or even the new $50 price it’s definitely worth trying this new piece of DLC. Contraptions is a step up from the disappointing Wasteland Workshop DLC and is enjoyable for the first hour or two playing with it but it still doesn’t blow anyone away.

5.5 / 10.0 - R.B.I. Baseball 16
Jun 10, 2016

It’s hard to recommend R.B.I. Baseball 16 to anyone but the hardest of the hardcore MLB fan. If you only own an Xbox One and you need a baseball game, I think you will find some enjoyment here. I would suggest those people to check out Super Mega Baseball, which released late last year, for a true arcade baseball experience.

9 / 10.0 - Overwatch
May 24, 2016

Overwatch is unlike anything else on the Xbox One and PS4. Yes, Battleborn exists and I've enjoyed that game for what it is and even reviewed it positively (you can read that here) But it'd be incredulous to not admit that Overwatch just brings something 'special' to the genre that makes it stand out from other shooters of a similar nature. Personally, I'd even go as far as calling it the most enjoyable multiplayer shooter on console to date. That's not to say that other multiplayer shooters have been bad; they certainly haven't but the Pixar-grade visuals mixed with everything else that makes Overwatch so great just puts it above the fray compared to other shooters. If you're looking to get some genuine fun out of a multiplayer game then you can't go wrong with Overwatch.

Overall, the general story can sometime be a hit or a miss, with some scenes really drawing me further into the world while others completely disengaged me. The characters are fine and some even have unique personalities but their development is never taken very far. The protagonist (Ethan) never speaks in the game, which is something that I'm generally not much of a fan of since it disengages me from the story in my personal experiences. There are often moments that  seem very much like 1984's Red Dawn or 2012's film of the same name, both of which I'm a fan of and I feel that there was a lot of potential that wasn't fully realized in the finished game.

Far Harbor, the 3rd installment of Fallout 4 DLC is a fresh and fun filled experience to expand an already huge game.

8 / 10.0 - Doom
May 17, 2016

Doom is a game that focuses on having a kickass campaign and tries to have a fun multiplayer but doesn't. The game also gives us a nice feature known as SnapMap that I didn't expect to be so good. Doom isn't perfect but it surely isn't a bad game. If you are looking for a different type of shooter or just a new game to add to the shelf, then Doom is an excellent choice. If you are looking for a multiplayer experience that will blow you away, then Doom probably isn't a good choice.

7.5 / 10.0 - Battleborn
May 12, 2016

When considering Battleborn as a full package, there's a lot there to sink your teeth into. It's unique blend of various game modes and various ways to play means you'll have a lot of fun experimenting in Battleborn, especially when it comes to the game's charming and humours characters. Battleborn will provide you with entertainment and a level of uniqueness that has become a rarity in AAA games. Unfortunately, it can't help but be felt that Battleborn falls just short of its potential and is held back by frustrating mission design, overly harsh difficulty and lack of multiplayer content.

7 / 10.0 - Star Fox Zero

Overall, Star Fox Zero was an enjoyable experience, and I would recommend it to any gamer who's willing to take the time and patience to learn the control system. It's definitely worth your while.

8.5 / 10.0 - The Park
May 4, 2016

The Park tells a dark and very disturbing story, the park itself is a joy to explore, and the voice acting is top notch. I've played a few horror games already in 2016 but The Park is so far my favorite.

8 / 10.0 - Invisible Inc.
Apr 29, 2016

Other than the small text issues Invisible Inc. really is an awesome tactical turn based strategy game. It offers so many ways to tailor the itself to your playstyle whether you are a novice to the genre or a hardcore player. It has plenty of content and even comes with the expansion on PS4 for even more value. Give this one a try for sure.

10 / 10.0 - Severed
Apr 29, 2016

There really isn’t anything wrong at all with Severed. It is one of the best Vita games on the system and I can’t recommend it enough. Drinkbox took a big risk releasing this game on on the Vita but it takes full advantage and is probably the best use of the touchscreen to date. The combat is so satisfying, the world so beautiful and fun to explore, and the music and sound effects so great to listen to. I loved every second I spent severing all of those monsters limbs off and making Sasha stronger with them. I hope to see more of Severed in the future and if you own a PlayStation Vita this is a must buy.

9.5 / 10.0 - Dark Souls III
Apr 11, 2016

While the framerate issues were annoying, and did have a slight effect on my overall impressions of the game, Dark Souls III is without a doubt the best game of 2016 so far. I enjoyed pretty much everything about the game, the bosses, the enemies, the level design, the soundtrack, everything was just amazing. If it wasn't for the issues with the framerate along with some other smaller issues, then Dark Souls III would have been a 10/10 game. Even with these issues, it's a must buy game which I recommend everyone should buy on release date.

8 / 10.0 - Quantum Break
Apr 1, 2016

Quantum Break is a very good game that could have been a great game if it wasn't for performance issues and the handling issues throughout the game. I can't praise Remedy enough however for the chances they took in Quantum Break, and how well they paid off in the game. I feel there aren't many developers taking these kind of chances anymore in the video games industry, and full credit goes to the great team at Remedy for doing what they did. Overall I enjoyed Quantum Break even with the few annoyances scattered throughout the game, and recommend trying this one out.

In conclusion, does Salt and Sanctuary borrow a lot from the From Software games? Yes it does but it doesn't try to hide that fact and Ska Studios has put their own stamp on these kind of games in my opinion. Salt and Sanctuary nails the atmosphere and the combat and I highly recommend it if you enjoy 2D RPG's or if you are a fan of any of the From Software games. The game doesn't hold your hand and will deliver that same brutally hard experience that you loved about those other games. I can already say that Salt and Sanctuary is going to be in the running for my personal pick for game of the year in 2016.

8 / 10.0 - EA Sports UFC 2
Mar 30, 2016

EA UFC 2 is much better representation of UFC with the improved gameplay features, the expanded roster that covers 10 divisions, and the additional game modes. While career mode was a huge let down, and felt pretty much like a copy and paste, the other modes managed to provide the entertainment of a UFC game. If you wasn't a fan of EA UFC, I would recommend EA's 2nd try as all in all it's a much better game that is worth buying.

Episode 2 of The Walking Dead: Michonne does an excellent job at improving upon the foundations set by the first. While the reoccurring graphical glitches that are common with Telltale games still make an appearance, the episode is so immersive and intense that they are only a minor nuisance in an otherwise great game. Episode 2 leaves me thoroughly excited for the final episode and that’s a testament to the work and improvements made by Telltale with this second episode.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered is a game I am proud to have gotten to play and experience. The game stands tall next to the great adventure games of today thanks to the improvements made to the game. If you enjoy adventure games, great puzzles, or lough out loud humor play Day of the Tentacle Remastered.
