I complained a lot about Alone in the Dark, but ultimately, I quite enjoyed the game. It's the atmosphere, above all, that made it a memorable one for me. The strange events, the eerie environment, and the many puzzles, both large and small. All of this makes me forgive the game for many things that bothered me, but not so much.

I'm late, and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth only has itself to blame. Why does the game have to be so powerful? Dondoko Island, all the side missions, the gripping story... this is almost a perfect game. Even if it does have its flaws. It takes four hours for the title to finally start, the German translation has obvious spelling mistakes, and the fact that the New Game+ mode is behind a paywall is a disgrace. Nevertheless, the game thoroughly entertained me.

7 / 10.0 - The Universim
Feb 13, 2024

It's a shame that The Universim runs out of steam at the end. The game definitely had the potential to be a lot of fun. But the small glitches starting in the Industrial Age, such as not knowing what affects research speed or not being able to tell at a glance which nuggets are unmarried, significantly diminish the fun. I don't regret investing so much time in the game. But at the end, I'm left with a certain sense of disappointment.

Do Switch owners absolutely have to own Another Code: Recollection? If you're a fan of adventure games and/or own the games from that era, you should definitely check it out. Other than that, you should think twice before buying it. The game is good. The only major flaw is the puzzles, which use the poorly designed gyroscope controls. Otherwise, the only criticism is that the difficulty level isn't as challenging and the graphics are "just" good.

My initial concerns were dispelled during the test. The beginning may take some getting used to, especially the lack of blocks. But once you arrive at Mount Qaf, the game really starts to get fun. The Prince's various movement styles, the innovative take on the Metroidvania genre, and the brilliant soundtrack are all a ton of fun. If you've played Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you can easily wait even longer for the Sands of Time remake!

Objectively speaking, The Walking Dead – Destinies is truly awful: mercilessly outdated technology, clunky animations, and gameplay mechanics that don't quite work as intended. Nevertheless, the game somehow managed to motivate me to play through to the end. Perhaps it's the same phenomenon I had with Escape From Bug Island on the Wii. Back then, the trashiness of the story kept me entertained, even though the game itself wasn't that great. Here, it's probably the similarity to the series that appealed to me. Although the choices you make do allow you to influence the course of the story to a certain extent. However, if you're not a die-hard fan of the series, I'd advise you to try it out first. Because I can't really recommend this title to anyone.

9 / 10.0 - Super Mario RPG
Dec 19, 2023

Super Mario RPG may not be the mega-epic RPG you might expect. It's too short and too simple for that. But it remains a timeless classic, even in the remake. The fun story, the brilliant combat system, and the music ensure that it's still a joy to play today.

I won the game and the set in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but I still fell short of victory in the final stage, as a gripping story and connection to other characters on your journey to the finale didn't materialize. There was still more potential here. What makes the game extremely good is simply the feeling of being on Pandora, becoming a part of the Na'Vi and their culture, learning, understanding what Eywa is and how she influences you and everything, and sinking deep into a world, leaving your normal everyday life behind for a few hours and unwinding.

Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased his Name is a nice introduction to the next main game, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The game offers everything you'd expect from the series: over-the-top action, excellent characterization, and plenty of side quests. The main story is rather short, and the fact that Kiryu can disguise himself with simple glasses requires a lot of faith. But those are the only drawbacks in an otherwise very enjoyable game.

If Modern Warfare 3 had been a DLC for Modern Warfare 2, everyone would have celebrated it, I'm convinced of that! But the developers' otherwise good work simply isn't good enough for a new full-price installment! To be honest, that doesn't make Modern Warfare 3 the worst Call of Duty, as many are currently condemning it to be. In relation to it, however, it is simply probably the most disappointing Call of Duty of recent years. My recommendation would be to wait until the price drops. Given the current political situation, I could imagine that being possible. Otherwise, hopefully it will come to Game Pass at some point!

8.7 / 10.0 - EA Sports WRC

Even though it's easier to get started than Dirt Rally, the title will demand a lot from you. If you can handle that, you'll have a fun racing game for many hours.

7.6 / 10.0 - Death or Treat
Nov 8, 2023

Death or Treat is a nice little indie gem that would have been perfect for Halloween night. The great visual presentation combined with a fitting soundtrack would have been a perfect fit for the theme night. However, it has to be acknowledged that the game is only fun in short bursts, as the grind is immense to eventually reach the end of the game. Nevertheless, it's fun to immerse yourself in the world of Hallowtown and will also appeal to fans of roguelites and roguelikes. Definitely a thumbs up from me!

8.2 / 10.0 - Ad Infinitum
Oct 29, 2023

Overall, Ad Infinitum was an exciting and immersive gaming experience that certainly won't be for everyone, but its excellent production leaves a lasting impression. So, anyone who enjoys horror adventures that require a quick grasp of the story should get their money's worth. The harmonious soundscape underscores the overall picture created by German developer Hekate and conveys the sense of despair that must have reigned on the battlefield back then. I had a lot of fun with the title and will attempt another playthrough soon, and you should consider doing the same.

8.2 / 10.0 - The Crew Motorfest
Oct 1, 2023

The Crew Motorfest is a rock-solid arcade racer that's a lot of fun. There are a few things that bothered me personally, like some of the dialogue was cringe-worthy and the grind was way too long to afford cars. But overall, I recommend the title to anyone who had many enjoyable hours with Forza Horizon or simply couldn't play it because of the system's inappropriateness. Since the gameplay is constantly being expanded, long-term motivation should be guaranteed, and the game is certainly even more fun with a few friends.

Hats off to me for this excellent piece of software from indie developer "OutOfTheBit," which, with just 367 megabytes of storage, provides great entertainment and a little journey back in time on the Xbox Series X. Anyone interested can also try it on Nintendo Switch or PC (via Steam). Please, more of this! The only thing I need to investigate further is the two crashes on my Denon X4000 receiver. It's been running flawlessly for years and didn't cause any problems during subsequent gaming or TV sessions. I'm not entirely sure how a game or its sounds could cause a security shutdown, but if I can reproduce this, a patch might be needed to remedy the situation.

CounterAttack may not be a game that will score points for its outstanding visuals or its variety of enemies. However, it is a shoot 'em up that can appeal to the broadest possible audience and scores particularly well due to its enormous scope and replay value. Anyone who wants to unlock all possible upgrades for their ship will certainly be busy for a long time. The story mode, whose levels can be played as desired, as well as the survival mode, where you can chase the high score, invites you to do this. But it only really gets fun when you join the game with friends and compete against the Automatons either locally or across systems in the online mode. In any case, it's definitely a title that every shooting fan should take a closer look at.

Unscored - MotoGP 23
Jun 19, 2023

In contrast to last year, MotoGP 23 has already been noticeably changed and improved. Unfortunately, the classic racetracks from the 2009 season have been removed from the predecessor, but we can now even take to the track in Kazakhstan and India, even though these are excluded from the actual race cycle. The improved driving aids make the game much more accessible for newcomers to the genre, and the dynamic weather, including flag-to-flag, add additional nuances to the gameplay itself. In any case, MotoGP 23 is a game for fans, as there are plenty of opportunities to delve into the subject matter and immerse yourself in the sport and the racetracks.

6.7 / 10.0 - Mato Anomalies
Jun 4, 2023

How would you describe your relationship with Mato Anomalies? "It's complicated," I'd say. On the one hand, the game captivates me with its fantastic game world, its magnificent art style, the fun runs through the metaverse, and its variety of missions. On the other hand, there's the somewhat confusing storyline with a main character about whom we learn virtually nothing and whose motives are completely unclear. Personally, I also didn't need some of the game elements, such as the mind hacks. What remains is a perfectly acceptable role-playing game that's certainly playable, but not entirely recommendable.

Bubble Bobble Everybubble is a game that lets you gather your friends and family around the TV again. It's a straightforward puzzle game for young and old. It's easy to get started, but the sometimes tough time limit means there's plenty of potential for repeat play if you want to earn three stars on every level. With a total of 270 levels, the game is also comprehensive enough to keep you entertained for a long time. Nothing stands in the way of many fun game nights.
