Black Myth: Wukong from GameScience is a remarkable addition to the action RPG genre, and easily one of this year's best. It seamlessly blends stunning graphics, thrilling combat, and a captivating story rooted in Chinese mythology.
I'm all for game preservation, and it's great that finally got three more Sunsoft classics in the Sunsoft is Back! Retro Game Selection. The emulation is spot on, and the added digital game manuals and artwork are a nice touch. I do wish there were more than three games in this bundle, but the good news is the price is right at only $9.99.
Astro Bot is the best platforming game on PlayStation this generation bar none. It's a pure joy to play and could just be the best PlayStation Studio first-party game on the PS5.
The Casting of Frank Stone delivers as promised, excelling in its engaging narrative while also being a noteworthy expansion to the Dead by Daylight universe.
Shadow of the Ninja: Reborn successfully modernizes a classic title while retaining its nostalgic charm. The vibrant pixel art and energetic soundtrack create an engaging atmosphere that draws you into the game.
Star Wars Outlaws presents an exciting journey through the beloved Star Wars universe. The game features a captivating story centred around Kay Vess, a charming outlaw and has you explore beautifully designed planets, each filled with unique environments, friendly characters and criminal factions.
Dustborn offers a rich story with compelling characters that drew me in and kept me hooked over the 15-hour adventure. Pax and her gang are down-to-earth and relatable, brought to life through excellent voice acting.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition has a lot of content and replayability, especially given its budget price. Not only are there 150 challenges to complete, but you'll want to replay your favourites over and over again to improve your times, be it seconds or even milliseconds.
Tomba! Special Edition successfully brings back a beloved classic from the PlayStation era. The game’s vibrant visuals and charming character designs create an engaging atmosphere that captures the spirit of the original.
Earth Defense Force 6 provides near-endless excitement and fun. I'm having a total blast after 75+ hours already logged and not one ounce of fatigue has set in.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate may not be the most original roguelike out there, but I had a blast playing it and would easily say it's one of the best TMNT games yet.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a wildly creative game that feels fresh and unique and honestly a development gamble considering this is a brand new IP that needs to find an audience. The game does a fantastic job combining elements of action, RTS, tower defence and even a bit of life sim management thrown into the mix.
Gigantosaurus: Dino Sports is a fun four-player party game with eight highly replayable minigames that kept my family coming back. The Giganto Games story mode is surprisingly funny and features animation and voice acting on par with the popular cartoon.
Luigi's Mansion 2 HD on Nintendo Switch is such a joy to play, continuously offering a hilarious and fresh experience. The bold new visuals are among the best yet on Nintendo's latest console, and when paired with the catchy music and elaborate mansions full of fun puzzles it's an audio-visual treat.
Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition is certainly a game of its time, but its quality still shines bright. The story is unforgettable, the dungeons are cleverly designed, the characters are brilliant and the soundtrack is impeccable.
The Rogue Prince of Persia Early Access build already has the foundations for another incredible PoP adventure, now it's up to Evil Empire and Ubisoft to expand on the game with some great new content drops.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake on Nintendo Switch is an utter joy to play and it's great to know Nintendo hasn't forgotten about this beloved series. The spruced-up presentation and bountiful quality-of-life improvements make this wonderful adventure even better than the top-notch original.
This is a sequel done right with an expanded roster of playable characters, much more game content to enjoy, and the introduction of two-player co-op for the entire campaign. Any pony with kids in the house should check out this game.
Hellblade 2 delivers as promised: an immersive narrative experience that continues Senua's story while delivering top-notch visuals, impressive binaural 3D audio, and among the best mocap ever in gaming. It's a compact, focused tale that trims the fat and pushes you forward at a brisk pace—exactly what I think fans of the original game will be looking for.
The System Shock remake is exceptionally well built featuring bright and beautiful retro-style graphics, lots of welcome game optimizations and redesigned controls to support the PS5 gamepad. The immersive world-building drew me in, but it was the high-stakes combat and deep exploration that kept me hooked over the game's surprisingly long 20+ hours.
