Andrew Reiner's Reviews
The same great baseball simulation now caters to a wider group of gamers with online franchises and shorter game times
For the third time, Sucker Punch has crafted a game that is worth playing through twice
Final Fantasy XV struggles mightily with open-world navigation, but succeeds in storytelling, combat, and in empowering the player. Even fishing is good fun
The Toy Box has always been fun, but it's once again safe to venture back into the play sets
A blast for Star Wars and Lego fans alike
This game has fascinating secrets to tell, and is continually fun to play. Learning how this entry connects to the series is more than enough reason to play
It succeeds in both its puzzles and story, and emerges as one of the nicest surprises of the year
The shooting is fun, but the real hook is devoting time to creating a terrifying killing machine
All three games withstand the test of time and remain fun to play
To think, Sonic Spinball was onto something all of those years ago. Yoku's Island Express is delightful and fun from start to finish
Smashing up cars is fun, and Wreckfest is an old-school racer that delivers on that thrill
Reliving historical moments is a great new way to experience The Show. Diamond Dynasty is also beefed up with more user-friendly card collecting and a variety of ways to play
Gears 5 delivers plenty of excitement in its encounters and story, and offers nearly endless thrills in its excellently crafted multiplayer experiences
The Surge 2 is challenging, but finds ways to continually reward the player, whether it's a new piece of armor, weapon, or a life-saving shortcut
The story is fun to follow, but the real joy comes from playing levels over and over again to create the perfect combo run
The action pops and is excellently crafted. You always feel like you are on the verge of making more progress, which is a great feeling for a roguelike
Even without many new features, The Show impresses with its play and wealth of content. There's something for everyone
A rarity in gaming that is at its best when the characters are rambling on
MLB The Show 22 doesn't put up an all-star performance this year, but continues to be consistent in all avenues of play and finds new ways to make you want to spend time at the ballpark. Playing with friends in cooperative play is the standout feature if you can use it, but the on-the-field play and March to October also impress.
Rarely have I played a game where I wanted to restart a scenario to undo bad decisions as I have here. Swansong makes you pay for your missteps and should be an excellent game for watercooler discussions with others who have played it.
