DOOM: The Dark Ages is a solid entry in one of gaming’s longest running franchises. Featuring a stellar combat system with a focus on larger scale battles, the game is only let down by a forgettable story and an even more forgettable soundtrack, in place of the magic that Mick Gordon produced on its predecessors. If you’re after a bloody spectacle, with large, open battlefields with hordes of enemies to tear through, then you’re in for a good time with DOOM: The Dark Ages.

Autopsy Simulator is the literal definition of a grotesque and unsettling mixed bag; whilst the level of detail and accuracy afforded to the autopsies is impressive, and it does manage to hold down a spooky atmosphere, it’s overall a bit too short and a bit too hand-holdy for most of the game. For fans of the simulation genre or shows like CSI, then it’s worth a look at, otherwise I’d wait for a sale before you begin dissecting this one.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a mastercraft of an RPG, delivering a hyper-accurate recreation of Medieval Bohemia that is oozing charm, finesse and style out of every pore. Featuring an enthralling open world, mastercrafted combat, a superb narrative laden with political intrigue and deception, all brought to life by an amazing score and soundtrack from the excellent Jan Valta that immerses you in the world like never before. You owe it to yourself to pick this one up, as it’s easily one of the greatest video games I’ve ever played.

Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is a love letter to fans of the franchise, showcasing the love and passion that the community have for one of gaming’s most beloved, yet forgotten franchises. Featuring renewed textures & stellar performance, Raina Audron and Aspyr have reinvigorated two of the best games ever made for the modern audience, and even though the gameplay is a bit outdated and archaic, it doesn’t detract from what is arguably one of the greatest stories ever told.

While RetroRealms: Double Feature is visually and atmospherically well-crafted, it’s a bit of a mixed bag across the board. The platformer gameplay and 16-bit art style are great, but that’s ultimately where it reaches heights, as the core loop and grind is extremely tedious that will only really appeal to the niche it’s intended for. Horror fans and retro enthusiasts will appreciate the homage to classic films and games, but at £20 a pop, it’s hard to recommend the games as they currently are, making it hard to justify the purchase.
