Starbites overall is a charming, short and sweet turn-based JRPG, if you are wanting something that is not going to break the bank but not break into a lot of your social hours then this may just be worth your time, the general PS2 aesthetic is really charming and makes you feel like your playing something from the early 2000s again. It does not have a lot of ground breaking features but its charming story and simple gameplay makes Starbites stand out on its own.
The Shore: Enhanced Edition is a game of two halves, and I really did go into this thinking that the game was a pretty faithful adaptation of Lovecraft’s titular creatures. As much as I enjoyed the opening segments and do truly believe that the atmosphere was extremely well crafted, the latter half of the game, inconsistent gameplay mechanics, short runtime and abysmal performance really do bog down what could have been an excellent Cosmic horror title. Worth grabbing if it’s ever on sale for a couple of quid, otherwise this is only recommended for the most die-hard of Lovecraft fans, as there’s a lot holding this one back.
Death Match Love Comedy! isn't just a game, it's an essay in teenage hormones. Developed by KEMCO and published by PQube, Death Match Love Comedy! (henceforth referred to as DMLC) is a visual novel that keeps you chuckling and intrigued with the bizarity of its plot. I expect nothing less from the caricaturization of Japanese high schoolers. Is it fun? Sure, but is it good? Meh. If visual novels and weeb-ish content is your jam, then you should definitely check DMLC out. Otherwise, if you don't get a kick out of teen drama and boob jokes then this is not the game for you. You can, however, read the rest of this review to get the rundown.
Starfield is a good game but not exceptional, it has a decent enough story and enough content to see it through but just be aware if you are wanting a deep space exploration game then this may not be for you. Starfield has elements of a game set in space but it doesn't ever fully utilize these, it is something the developers could work on for sure but if they do is something that remains to be seen.
Ariana and the Elder Codex is an ok game and I have had a good time playing but it is a niche title, it is not a game I would see myself going back to once its over, it has little replay-ability and once you have played through it once you will have seen everything it has to offer.
Etrange Overlord is a fun and frantic game that that slowly builds into an adventure with a diverse cast of character and unlocks new mechanics fairly opening up for an adventure fraught with humour and fun that stands well on its own merit as an action JRPG.
Director of The Thing (1982) and composer of the Halloween movie soundtrack, John Carpenter should be a household name. Today, the Carpenter name reaches beyond the film industry and into gaming with the release of John Carpenter's Toxic Commando.
Pokopia is one of the best offerings from the Pokémon series in a considerable period of time. Blending many different inspirations into quite frankly the ultimate life simulator cozy game for Pokémon fans. Pokopia has a mountain of mechanics that are brilliantly taught and easy to implement. With around 300 Pokémon to find, befriend and build for. Multiple areas to explore and cultivate. Multiple options for online and multiplayer gameplay. Pokopia is certainly content rich and will keep you glued to your Switch 2. A truly wonderful experience with nostalgia for old fans and plenty to fall in love with as a new fan.
Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered is the love-letter to the swansong of a franchise long-forgotten, re-framed for the modern gamer. Featuring stellar presentation, updated graphics and gameplay, and a boatload of bonus content to boot, Defiance Remastered is a must play for fans of the franchise.
Releasing just today, Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse is new to the scene and comes with lots of witchy charm. Developed by Frontside 180 and Published by Pocketpair Inc., Never Grave is a Metroidvania x roguelite platformer set in a fantastical world where a curse has wiped out a nearby village. You, a cursed hat (yes, a hat) must utilise possession and magic to destroy your enemies and re-build the village. So, that cute anime girl in the header? Yeah, you're the hat. Despite my complete lack of skill holding me back, I was thoroughly enchanted with Never Grave and cannot wait to fully complete this game. Is Never Grave for you? Read along to find out.
Resident Evil: Requiem is nothing short of a love letter from Capcom to fans of one of their longest running franchises; taking all of the lessons learnt over the last 30 years to masterfully execute one of the best survival horror games on the market. Featuring a standout narrative, blood-curdling, survival horror gameplay and enough nostalgia to make even Albert Wesker cry, Resident Evil: Requiem is a must play for both fans of the franchise and horror fans in general.
Are you too cool for maths, but still yearn to calculate those numbers? Look no further – Cash Cleaner Simulator is here! Of course, there is more to the game than that but my poor brain was stuck at that first hurdle. Cash Cleaner Simulator is, as the title says, a simulator developed by Mind Control Games and first released on PC in 2025. Now available on PS5, we’re going to see if cash cleaning is still a profitable career or if it should have stayed on Steam.
Fans of Paper Mario can look forward to this turn-based adventure RPG. Developed by Sleepy Castle Studio and Wing-It! Creative, Escape from Ever After is inspired by the aforementioned Mario game. It combines fairy tale whimsy with corporate espionage and an anti-capitalist mindset, creating inappropriately modern and realistic circumstance for our fairytale characters. Published by HypeTrain Digital, let’s see if Escape from Every After is a dream come true or just a wish upon a star.
I would say Ys X: Proud Nordics is worth it depending on two factors and that is if you own the original game, if you do then it may be worth holding off for now. The extra content of Ys X: Proud Nordics is not worth the cost of a full new game especially if you already own it, while the game does add previous DLC such as costumes and Items the actual content of the game itself cost wise reflects that of a small DLC and could easily be sold as that, unfortunately that just is not the case, but if you have yet to try Ys X then Proud Nordics is the most up to date and definite edition of the game that you should get.
Just one month in, 2026 continues to deliver wonderful and weird games for us to experience. CASSETTE BOY is no exception to this trend. Developed by Wonderland Kazakiri Inc. and published by Pocketpair, Inc., this puzzle action RPG was equally fun and frustrating to play.
Vampires: Bloodlord Rising is a charming (yet flawed) initial foundation of what is an extremely original concept in gaming, taking some of the best elements of the settlement sim genre and crafting an experience where there really is nothing similar on the market. The rough edges will no doubt improve over time, as aforementioned, this is a game in early-access. Definitely one to pick up if you love anything to do with vampires, or even to support what the game might eventually become, however in its current state, it’s lacking bite.
I Hate This Place is an aesthetically perfected, stylish 80’s romp that unfortunately struggles with somewhat of an identity crisis. Despite drawing inspiration from some of the best work the 1980s has to offer, the game slaps together a bunch of conflicting gameplay mechanics, which would have been stronger if they just focused on a solitary idea. Worth a grab for the price it’s going for, doubly so if you’re a fan of 80’s horror.
I Am Future: Cozy Apocalypse Survival is a playable and enjoyable experience that could be further enhanced by DLC, it is not the largest game from start to finish and there is a bit of playability after you're done but not by much as there is nothing really that you can work towards, the main gameplay loop of uncovering more of the rooftop and building a self sustaining farm is great but once you have completed a lot of the smaller projects at hand you are practically done. If the game is expanded with content it could be something really great as the potential and groundwork is already there but only if the developers allow it.
Berangin Creative have set the standard for 2026 with their latest release, Kejora. Published by Soft Source Publishing, Kejora is an immersive tale of cursed magic, bravery, and forgiveness. This side-scroller is an indie gem and surprisingly immersive to play, leaving you reluctant to step away without completing the game.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon is a fantastic JRPG adventure and one that sits comfortably as a follow up to Trails through Daybreak II which had some pacing issues. These seem to have been all but resolved thanks to it's fantastic gameplay, new appealing visuals and combat and a cast of characters that we have grown to love through the years. If you've been keeping up but felt somewhat disconnected then Trails Beyond the Horizon will certainly fill the void that Trails has been missing.
