Castle of Heart Retold is certainly a step up compared to the original Nintendo Switch release from 2018, fixing some of the knight's clunkiness and greatly improving the visuals. Unfortunately, it is not enough to make this fast-paced action-platformer shine on a much, much larger library compared to its original release.

Sacred 2 Remaster is an odd one. When the original was released in 2008 it felt like a huge wasted opportunity, a game with an enourmous amount of content marred by just as many bugs and technical problems, and yet I ended up falling in love with its endless exploration and janky combat. Seventeen years later, this remaster should have been the perfect occasion to fix as many technical flaws as possible while mantaining what already worked. It manages to do so, but to a far lesser extent than expected, and the addition of new problems makes it hard to justify the purchase for reasons other than nostalgia or curiosity.

Anno 117: Pax Romana brings the player to a time period not much explored in videogames, and certainly not in the Anno series, that of the Roman Empire. Though the gameplay falls in line with what we've come to expect of the series, this entry manages to set itself apart thanks to its cultural elements, allowing the player to chose different paths, both in events and the research tree, and actually feel the weight of the choices for the rest of the game.

8.5 / 10.0 - Frostpunk 2
Sep 28, 2025

Just like its predecessor, Frostpunk 2 manages to shine on consoles as well, a challenging task for such a unique blend of management and city-builder that should be at its best when played with a mouse. It is, and that certainly doesn't come as a surprise, but the console UI does a very good job at making the game playable and enjoyable with a DualSense... except for a few, pesky bugs that make certains commands not registering and needing quick workarounds like opening and closing the main menu before working again. Nothing that can't be fixed hopefully, and certainly not enough to ruin what remains an excellent and extremely addicting title, even on console.

7.5 / 10.0 - Wild Hearts S
Aug 13, 2025

Wild Hearts S is a testament to the Nintendo Switch 2 potential, as it runs well enough in handheld mode despite releasing so early in the console life cycle, especially for a third party title. It can't be considered a threat to Monster Hunter's throne in this genre, but it certainly could be a good choice for those who prefer handheld gaming, especially if they haven't played it on other platforms.

8 / 10 - Somber Echoes
Jul 22, 2025

Somber Echoes is, by all means, a good metroidvania and a good game, bringing the player into a well designed world that combines sci-fi elements with Greco-Roman mythology. It's just that, after exploring the halls of its doomed spaceship and meeting gods and reality-bending entities, it cannot seem to take the final step to excellence.

9.5 / 10.0 - Monster Train 2
Jun 22, 2025

Monster Train 2 is a worthy successor to one of the best roguelites of recent years, seemlessly blending tower-defense elements with a deeply engaging deck-building core. This sequel builds upon a sold base, pretty much doubling the number of available clans and cards to deliver a more faceded experience, adding a deeper story, endless mode and a good number of challenge runs.

8.1 / 10.0 - Chains of Freedom
Apr 28, 2025

Chains of Freedom is a well-rounded tactical-RPG, sporting an excellent turn-based combat system and a surprisingly good story that only shows some hiccups nearing the end of the game. The level of difficulty is quite high, mainly because of the resource management necessary to even reach the later stages, bringing depth and a rising sense of tension to the whole experience.

Gal Guardians Servants of the Dark is undoubtedly a good metroidvania, capable of offering a complete gaming experience and even a few hours of fun in local co-op, a type of game the industry seems to have forgotten. Unfortunately, while it improves on its predecessor in virtually every aspect, there remains the feeling of being faced with a title that handles usually more complex aspects well, such as the excellent boss fights against some bosses, only to fall on seemingly simpler and more straightforward issues such as inventory management.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is without a doubt a good sequel, building upon its predecessor and improving it in almost every way. But with maturity come expectations, and despite the obvious care that went into this game, some aspects of it could have used more way polish.

Tales of Graces f Remastered marks the much appreciated return of one of the best combat systems in the entire series, supported by an amazing cast of characters and a decent enough story. A must-play for fans of the series who haven't played the Wii or PS3 editions of this entry, but various QOL improvements make this a very valid option for veterans who feel like reliving Asbel's adventures.
