The hours I spent with Mika and the Witch's Mountain weren't many, but they were very enjoyable. What it lacks in mechanical depth, it makes up for with calming gameplay systems, a very relaxing setting, and a heartwarming anti-capitalist plot about community life. It's not a huge challenge or an epic adventure, but it's the comforting experience many of us need right now.

Freedom Wars Remastered offers thrilling Monster Hunter-style multiplayer action in an intriguing dystopian world, but the improvements over the original are mere cosmetic improvements. It feels dated in many ways, the missions can be repetitive, and its narrative undermines its seemingly revolutionary intentions. It's a good game, and we're glad it's been revived, but it doesn't offer anything special.

Even after seeing the ending, we kept playing because we fell in love with Forspoken, its protagonist, its exciting combat, and the fun way we use magical parkour to navigate the world. It's true that the story isn't particularly original and progression seemed very slow at first, but we believe that many of the criticisms leveled at its dialogue and protagonist are unfounded. Frey is one of the most charismatic heroines we've played recently, and it's easy to empathize with her, even at her worst.
