If you’re looking for the most technically refined version of the game, you probably won’t have waited for this release and will have already experienced it elsewhere. However, for players who haven’t yet taken the journey and are willing to overlook a handful of minor texture and visual compromises, or simply want to dig through a few more tombs during their daily commute, the Nintendo Switch 2 version is still a highly satisfying way to experience it.

Players looking for a challenge will find plenty to keep them busy. Whether through badges that make the game more challenging or as the difficulty level spikes significantly later on. The latter, however, feels a bit like hitting a wall. While you might have just breezed through a four-star level on your first try, you’ll easily use up 20 lives just to reach the checkpoint in a five-star level. And there are also levels where players are intentionally prevented from placing any units, even if they wanted to.

The year is 2026—February, to be exact. Resident Evil 7 biohazard was released more than nine years ago, in January 2017, for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Resident Evil Village followed five years later, in May 2021. Anyone who has avoided the cloud versions of these two games so far and owns a Nintendo Switch 2 is definitely in for a treat here. And with what we’ve seen so far of Resident Evil Requiem on the Nintendo Switch 2, Resident Evil fans will have more than enough horror to sink their teeth into on Nintendo’s current console this year.

If you enjoyed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment offers more of the same—and I don’t mean that as a criticism—and even more. Expanded combat options, thanks to character abilities and handy quality-of-life improvements, ensure plenty of fun and variety. By choosing to release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2, the game makes no technical compromises either.

This game is the very definition of popcorn cinema — it aims to entertain, doesn’t overstay its welcome, and even delivers a few genuinely creepy moments along the way. Interestingly, the scares mostly come outside of the combat sections (Here, kitty kitty kitty). As for me, I’ll probably keep working my way toward 100% completion and tackle the bonus levels one by one.

If you spend a while searching the seabed at a depth of 50 meters for treasures and crabs, you’ll be all the more surprised to suddenly hear a whale’s song and spot an orca swimming above you. Or you might find yourself surrounded by dolphins, even joining them if there’s enough space, while you continue looking for the next beautiful coral bay or explore that one hole in the ground leading into a dark cave. Let it be said: it’s great solo, but with other players it’s even more fun!
