7.5 / 10.0 - Black Myth: Wukong
Aug 25, 2024

Black Myth: Wukong is easily one of the best-looking games of the current generation. It’s clear that the game takes full advantage of everything Unreal Engine 5 has to offer. The world design, armor sets, and character models all look absolutely stunning. While there are occasional issues with the lighting, they do little to diminish the game’s breathtaking visual spectacle.

The emotionally detached protagonist, combined with repetitive mission design throughout the experience, significantly diminished my overall enjoyment of the game. While there are enjoyable elements, particularly the ship mechanics and naval combat, it is disappointing to see a title that spent seven years in development reach players in such an unpolished and careless state.

Once again, CD Projekt delivers an exceptional expansion with Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. At times, I cannot help but wish the main game had launched with the same level of polish and refinement as this DLC. Nevertheless, Phantom Liberty reignited my appreciation for the base game. One of its greatest strengths is the way it balances intense political intrigue with equally powerful emotional drama, creating an experience that feels both gripping and deeply impactful.
